Installation

Unpack and inspect contents. Ensure proper location with adequate clearance.

  1. Remove packaging: Remove all tape, foam, and shipping materials.
  2. Position refrigerator: Place on a level floor with at least 1" clearance on sides and top, 2" at back.
  3. Connect water supply: Attach water line to shut-off valve and refrigerator inlet (see Section 7).
  4. Plug into dedicated 120V AC outlet.
  5. Allow 24 hours for cooling before adding food.

WARNING! Refrigerator is heavy; use two people to move. Ensure water connection is tight to prevent leaks.

First-Time Setup

Plug in refrigerator; follow initial setup steps.

  1. Set temperatures: Use electronic controls to set fresh food and freezer compartments (recommended: 37°F fridge, 0°F freezer).
  2. Dispense water: Flush system by dispensing 2-3 gallons of water to clear air and particles.
  3. Enable ice maker: Lift wire signal arm to ON position.
  4. Organize interior: Adjust shelves and bins as needed.

CAUTION! Do not use sharp objects to remove ice during initial cycles. Allow 24 hours for first ice production.

Controls and Settings

Access controls via electronic touchpad on dispenser panel.

Control Panel: Power, Temperature Settings (Fridge/Freezer), Ice Type (Crushed/Cubed), Filter Reset, Door Alarm, Sabbath Mode, Lock Controls.

Temperature: Set fresh food (34°F to 46°F) and freezer (-5°F to 5°F). Ice Type: Select crushed or cubed ice. Filter Reset: Press and hold for 3 seconds after replacing filter. Door Alarm: Enable/disable alarm for open door. Sabbath Mode: Disables lights and alarms for religious observance. Lock Controls: Press and hold LOCK for 3 seconds to disable panel.

Connecting Water Supply

Required for ice maker and water dispenser.

  1. Turn off main water supply.
  2. Connect 1/4" copper or plastic water line to cold water shut-off valve.
  3. Route line to refrigerator location (max length 20 ft).
  4. Connect line to refrigerator water inlet valve at back (usually bottom left).
  5. Turn on water and check for leaks.
  6. Flush line before connecting to refrigerator.

Tip: Use a water line kit approved for refrigerators. Ensure connection is secure to prevent leaks.

Using the Ice & Water Dispenser

Dispenses ice (crushed or cubed) and chilled filtered water.

  1. Select ice type: Press ICE TYPE button for crushed or cubed.
  2. Dispense ice: Press glass against ice dispenser paddle.
  3. Dispense water: Press glass against water dispenser paddle.
  4. To stop: Remove glass from paddle.
  5. Child Lock: Press and hold LOCK for 3 seconds to disable dispenser.

WARNING! Do not use without water filter installed. Keep children away from dispenser to avoid injury.

Care & Cleaning

Unplug before cleaning interior. Use mild detergent and warm water; rinse and dry.

CAUTION! Do not use harsh chemicals, ammonia, or bleach. Never clean glass shelves with hot water.

Replacing the Water Filter

Replace filter every 6 months or when indicator light turns on.

  1. Locate filter: Inside refrigerator compartment, top left corner.
  2. Turn filter counterclockwise to remove.
  3. Insert new filter (EveryDrop™ EDR1RXD1); turn clockwise until it stops.
  4. Flush system: Dispense 2-3 gallons of water.
  5. Reset filter indicator: Press and hold FILTER RESET for 3 seconds.

Note: Use only Whirlpool-approved filters. Do not operate without a filter.
