Installation

Unpack and inspect contents. Ensure location meets clearance requirements.

  1. Remove packaging: Take off all tape, foam, and cardboard.
  2. Position refrigerator: Place on level floor with required clearances (sides, top, back).
  3. Connect water supply: Attach water line to shut-off valve and refrigerator inlet.
  4. Plug into AC power: Use dedicated 120V, 60Hz outlet.
  5. Allow stabilization: Let refrigerator stand upright for 2 hours before powering on.

WARNING! Refrigerator is heavy; use two people for moving. Ensure water connection is tight to prevent leaks.

First-Time Setup

After installation, follow these steps to prepare for use.

  1. Power on: Plug in refrigerator; interior lights should turn on when doors open.
  2. Set temperature: Use control panel to set fresh food compartment to 37°F (3°C) and freezer to 0°F (-18°C).
  3. Dispenser setup: Flush water system by dispensing 2 gallons (first 2-3 minutes of ice may be discarded).

Buttons: TEMPERATURE (Fridge/Freezer), LIGHT, LOCK, FILTER RESET, ICE TYPE (Crushed/Cubed), WATER, ICE.

Temperature Settings: Fresh food (34-46°F / 1-8°C), Freezer (-6 to 6°F / -21 to -14°C). Dispenser Lock: Press and hold LOCK 3 seconds to disable dispenser buttons. Filter Reset: Press FILTER RESET for 3 seconds after replacing filter. Light Control: Press LIGHT to turn interior lights on/off manually.

Connecting Water Supply

Required for ice maker and water dispenser.

  1. Turn off main water supply.
  2. Connect 1/4" copper or plastic water line to cold water shut-off valve.
  3. Route line to refrigerator location (avoid kinks).
  4. Connect to refrigerator water inlet valve at back (usually bottom left).
  5. Turn on water; check for leaks.
  6. Flush system by dispensing water for 2 minutes.

Tip: Use only drinking water quality supply line. Do not use with softened water if high sodium content.

Using the Dispenser

External dispenser provides chilled water and ice.

  1. Water: Press glass against water paddle or press WATER button.
  2. Ice: Select cube or crushed (press ICE TYPE), then press glass against ice paddle or ICE button.
  3. To stop: Remove glass or press button again.
  4. Dispenser lock: Enable to prevent accidental activation.
  5. First use: Discard initial ice batches (may be discolored).

WARNING! Do not use thin plastic glasses; they may crack. Children should be supervised.

Care & Cleaning

Unplug before cleaning interior. Use mild detergent and warm water; rinse and dry.

Exterior: Clean stainless steel with manufacturer-recommended cleaner. Interior: Clean shelves, bins, and surfaces every 1-2 months. Dispenser: Wipe with damp cloth; clean ice bucket monthly. Condenser coils: Vacuum every 6-12 months (located at back or bottom front grille).

CAUTION! Do not use abrasive cleaners or sharp objects. Never clean glass shelves with hot water when cold.

Filter Replacement

Replace water filter every 6 months or when indicator light comes on.

  1. Locate filter: Inside refrigerator compartment, upper left or behind kickplate.
  2. Turn filter counterclockwise to remove.
  3. Insert new WF1CB filter; turn clockwise until it stops.
  4. Flush by dispensing 2 gallons of water.
  5. Reset filter indicator: Press and hold FILTER RESET for 3 seconds.

Note: Use only Whirlpool WF1CB or approved replacement filters.
