Installation Instructions

Initial installation of the water filter in your Whirlpool refrigerator.

  1. Locate the filter housing: Inside the refrigerator compartment, upper right corner.
  2. Remove protective cap: Twist counterclockwise to remove any shipping cap.
  3. Insert new filter: Align arrows on filter with housing, push in and turn clockwise until it stops (quarter-turn).
  4. Flush the system: Run 2-3 gallons of water through the dispenser to clear air and carbon fines.
  5. Reset filter indicator: Press and hold the FILTER RESET button for 3 seconds until light turns green.

WARNING! Ensure refrigerator water supply is turned OFF before installation to prevent leaks. Do not overtighten filter.

Filter Replacement Guide

Replace filter every 6 months or when indicator light turns red.

  1. Turn filter counterclockwise to remove old cartridge.
  2. Discard old filter properly according to local recycling guidelines.
  3. Insert new filter as described in Installation Instructions.
  4. Flush with 2-3 gallons of water.
  5. Reset the filter status indicator.

Note: If replacement filter is not available, install the bypass plug to continue water/ice dispensing (unfiltered).
